Somewhere I read of the Freedom of Speech, somewhere I read of the Freedom of Press, and somewhere I read in the Greatness of America, allowing the right to Organize! The Employee Free Choice Act would enable working people to bargain for better wages, working conditions and benefits.

Employee Free Choice Act ... NOW !

The proposed legislation, which could lead to the biggest change in labor laws in many decades, would make it possible for work sites to become unionized if a majority of employees sign authorization cards, without requiring an election. Union leaders say the legislation is needed because employers illegally intimidate and fire workers engaged in union organizing, and current penalties are insufficient. It's just establishing fairness in the workplace!

When are we going to fight back?

The Employee Free Choice Act will:
1. Strengthen penalties for companies that coerce or intimidate employees trying to form unions and bargain.
2. Establish mediation and binding arbitration when the employer and workers cannot agree on a first contract and
3. Enable employees to form unions when a majority signs authorization cards.

While CEO's obtain a contract to get $20 million a year and get huge bonuses' with an addendum in that contract for the board of directors to pay the taxes on that bonus, the average worker gets taken!
There's every reason for the average American to feel like the deck is stacked against him.
The truth about the turnaround in the economy is that it is leaving the U.S. worker behind and in the dust!
The top tier gets the money and benefits, mismanages, and lands the company in bankruptcy, and the worker is underpaid, underinsured, loses his job and loses his pension.
Chicago Local 458M is out fighting for your respect in the workforce.
Workers want and deserve other benefits, such as paid vacations, paid holidays, and good secure pensions. These are benefits for which unions advocate. Federal and State laws guarantee the right to form a union. Contact any local officer  to assist employee's in forming a union shop allowing them to get the opportunity for dignity and respect, good wages, and decent working conditions that our members already have. Find out what's going on in your area and get involved!
Chicago Local 458M helps members solve mutual problems, and guard against adverse unilateral management decisions and influences. In addition we exchange technical information, develop shop leadership, promote the industry, and benefit from assistance by full time local and international representatives which results in decent working conditions, additional wages, better fringe benefits such as health and welfare, pensions, and most important of all dignity and justice on the job!
Chicago Local 458M is also a partner with various community technical schools. This partnership enables our members to prepare for their future within the Graphics Arts Industry.
These are just a few of the benefits that are made possible as a result of
having a union contract and the right of collective bargaining.

A union contract is a sound investment for your future!
